I've been watching this show, and I love it. I hate the wait for the eps though. It's not out in England so I'm watching it online when it gets released in America on ABC (I believe) Apparently it's going to be on Channel Five over here when it gets to England.
Anywho, the basic plot line is that All the fairytale characters, like Snow White and Cinderella and all of them, are put under a curse by the Evil Queen because she can't stand the idea of Snow White or anyone else having a Happily Ever After when she can't. She doesn't want to lose, so she brings up this huge curse that stops them all aging and takes their whole world, twisting it into Storybrooke Maine, a modern day town where no one comes and no one leaves, and everyone has remained the same for 28 years. The only way the spell can be broken is by Snow White and Prince Charming's Daughter, Emma, who was saved from the curse and grew up in the real world with no idea of what actually happened, but she comes to Storybrooke, when her own child (yes SNow White and Prince Charming are Grandparents and don't know it) that Emma gave up for adoption at age 18, arrives at her door and claims she's the one who's going to break the curse.
It's all long and complicated (but what do you expect from the creators of Lost) but from the thirteen eps that I've watched so far, I've garnered some theories of my own. Anyone feel free to comment on them or add there own.
SPOILER ALERTS AHEAD!!! (don't read if you don't want any spoilers)
So Emma is the saviour, Henry is her son. So far it's been revealed that Emma knew the father wasn't a good guy and so never contacted him about Henry at all. In fact she thinks this guy is so bad that she even lied to Henry and told him that his father was a fireman who died in the line of duty before Emma could speak to him about Henry. Now lies always come back to bite people in the arse no matter what drama you're watching. I have a feeling that Henry's father is important at some point. However, it's also been revealed that Mr GOld (Rumplestiltskin) procured Henry for Regina (Evil Queen) to raise. In episode 12, it's revealed the Rumplestiltskin knows who he is. The curse hasn't affected him. He also knows who Emma is, and knows that Regina knows who Emma is. In fact he's the one who told both the Evil Queen and Snow White and Prince Charming (or James as he insists in this show) that Emma, their (at that point) unborn child, would be the key to breaking the curse. So why did Rumplestiltskin procure Henry in particular for Regina? In fact why does he (in one episode) as Emma for forgiveness? Is it possible, that not only did Rumplestiltskin make sure Henry was in Storybrooke so that Emma would arrive there at age 28 (the prophesied age that she's due to break the curse) but could it also be possible that Rumplestiltskin is the father of Henry? Maybe he knew something drastic would need to happen to bring a lonely and abandoned Emma Swan to Storybrooke.
So is there a chance that Rumplestiltskin planned all of this in advance, so that Henry would be born, and Emma would have a reason to not only arrive in Storybrooke, but to stick around and clash with Regina? It's possible that Rumplestiltskin does indeed think ahead that far, as shown when Emma runs for Sheriff and Rumplestiltskin actually plans ahead to not only make Emma look like a hero (by setting a fire in Regina's office) but also making her look like a hero for standing up to him (when she refuses to stay quiet about the fact he started the fire and announces to the audience at the debate that in fact he did set the fire, and that although she didn't know he was going to do it, she didn't want to be seen as a hero when the fire was set by her supposed backer in the campaign) and she wins the election for Sheriff because of this.
So that's my theory about Henry, his father and why he exists at any rate (which is more as a catalyst to bring Emma to Storybrooke to break the curse) Now here's my theory about the favour that Emma owes Rumplestiltskin.
We learned in Episode 12 that if Rumplestiltskin had actually allowed himself the courage to love Belle he might have been saved from his own curse, as the Dark One. But he didn't want to lose his powers. Well maybe, after not really using any magic for 28 years, Rumplestiltskin maybe figured out that actually Belle was worth it. Even though at the moment, he believes she is dead, we all know she's alive and there have been hints that her Storybrooke alter ego will meet Rumplestiltskin as Mr Gold, so Rumplestiltskin will know that The Evil Queen lied to him when she told him that Belle had killed herself after being tortured to insanity. The fact that Belle is in (what appears to be) a psychiatric hospital at the moment means there is every chance of her being discovered. Now, what I believe is a possible ending for Rumplestiltskin is that after he finds out what the Evil Queen did to trick him, he decides to take Emma's side in the battle, against Regina, to break the curse. You might ask why he would want to help Emma when he'll end up back in prison. Well, as I said before, Emma owes him a favour. Once everything goes back to normal, Emma will be princess Emma (well it's an assumption, what with Snow White and Prince James being her parents) so she, to honor her word, will have to grant Rumplestiltskin his favour. Which will most likely be to set him free from his prison. Where he will go his merry way, making trouble as he wishes, or he will try to win Belle back, and end up as a normal human being. With him being human, there would be no need to keep him in prison right? So that's kinda my theory behind the favour and what may happen with Rumplestiltskin and Belle and how Emma will repay the favour she owes Rumplestiltskin.
There's also this hate theory with fans at the moment, that David Nolan is not that much like Prince James, his Fairytale alter ego, in the respect that he isn't as truthful or as brave as Prince James. Well that is very likely an effect of the curse. Remember the curse is supposed to take away everyone's happy endings right? That includes Snow White's and Prince James' happy ending. When you think about that, Regina is doing her best to make sure that SNow White and Prince Charming can't really be together, because it's not that right time, or the right thing to be doing. Something is always getting in the way and yes that's annoying, but in theory it's about right. After all, David Nolan doesn't remember being Prince James, so ho can he be the same person. In fact all of the fairytale people, while keeping some of their personality traits, are very different in modern Storybrooke. So, like I said, it's the curse, stopping them being together, so it has to be broken before Snow and James get their happy ending right? You might complain that Cinderella and Prince Thomas got their happy ever after, but, while Cinderella and Thomas (or Ashley and Sean) seem to be happy, Ashley does in fact say that things aren't perfect. Life is hard for them. Therefore they aren't exactly getting their happily ever after, but they're relatively happy because of the bargain that Emma made with Rumplestiltskin.
The latest mystery is where is Kathryn/Abigail? I don't really have many theories about that to be honest, but I think it has something to do with the fact that no one can leave Storybrooke. It's obviously something to do with the curse. I don't believe she's dead, but I'm sure we'll find out.
Also, the idea of there being no smoke without fire, comes to me, when I consider the story line that was hanging around in ep 13. Emma going on a sorta date with the stranger (who is called August W Booth and happens to be a writer) and being introduced to the magic water (in both Fairytale world and Storybrooke) can't be coincidence. If this magic water (from an underground lake) can cure curses, then why shouldn't it give people their memories of their old lives back? After all, they can't remember because of a curse. The water breaks curses. Another thought about the magic water, if it's in an underground lake, then maybe those old mine tunnels that Regina is trying to have collapsed, lead to the underground lake of magical curse breaking water. Just a thought.
Another theory is that Sheriff Graeme is going to rise from the dead. I sincerely doubt that, but it's possible that maybe his spirit could be a guide for Emma, and it's a huge possibility that The Huntsman (Graeme's Fairytale alter ego) will return in Fairytale flashbacks.
Also, I have a theory about Baelfire, Rumplestiltskin's son, I doubt that he's involved with the curse at all. Just think logically. The Dark One (the first one Zuso) lived for thousands of years before he engineered his death at the hands of Rumplestiltskin, Add to that fact that Rumplestiltskin was not known at all before he became the Dark One, and the fact that people are terrified of him when Snow White exists, tells me that he's been around for a very long time, and has been doing enough bad deeds to build up a reputation. So if he's been around long enough for everyone to know of and be afraid of him, then it's entirely possible that his son is dead now. Even if he did run away after seeing Rumplestiltskin in all his evil glory. But I think it goes deeper, I think that what that noble said to Rumplestiltskin about Baelfire not being his son, got old Rumplestiltskin thinking. maybe in a blind, dark rage, he killed Baelfire. I also have a theory we're going to find out what happened to Rumplestiltskin's wife later on too, as well as why he gave Regina the curse in the first place.
Anywho, these are only a few of my theories at the moment. I'm way too tired to bother thinking about all my theories right now, I need sleep. So let the discussion begin
